Provide controlled artwork
If a custom pattern is requested, supply a usable artwork reference and define its scale, repeat and orientation. Mark which areas are intended to remain plain and how the design meets panel edges. A low-resolution image may communicate an idea without defining production artwork.

Pattern alignment can matter across multiple sheets or fabricated pieces. Include elevations, joint positions, returns and any viewing priorities. Ask how the supplier proposes to locate the pattern relative to finished dimensions before approving a sample or final quotation.
Separate pattern from substrate
State base grade, thickness and sheet or component dimensions. Describe any additional colour or contrasting texture as part of the finish specification. Confirm sample scope and appearance criteria for the actual process rather than using an unrelated decorative image as acceptance.
