Specification note

How to Specify a Stainless Steel Honeycomb Panel

Compare the whole panel assembly, not a single layer.

List each layer separately

A useful specification names the visible facing, core, backing and bonding system, then states the overall finished thickness. Record the thickness and material of the skins separately. Do not use one number ambiguously for both the metal sheet and the composite panel.

Add edge and fixing details

Show returns, exposed edges, joints, holes and the intended connection to the substrate. Identify areas that need additional support or access. Ask for a drawing of the proposed construction so the offered panel can be compared with the project detail.

Tie documents to the offered construction

If a project requires test evidence, identify the requirement and request documents for the offered build-up. Changes to facing, core, adhesive or backing need review. A statement about the stainless steel surface alone does not establish the performance of the composite assembly.
