Identify the intended application
State whether the request is for decorative sheet, wall panels, a screen, an elevator surround or another fabricated component. Explain the installation location and whether the material will be exposed to moisture, cleaning chemicals, salt or other demanding conditions.
Separate grade from finish
The base grade and the visible finish answer different questions. Record the specified alloy, thickness and product form first. Then add texture, colour, grain direction and a sample reference. A gold or black surface does not identify the substrate grade.
Use drawings and consistent dimensions
Specify units, width, length and quantities. For fabricated pieces, include bends, returns, joints and the main visible faces. Mark tolerances only where they are required by the project and give the drawing revision used for pricing.
Define a complete panel construction
For composite or honeycomb panels, identify facing, core, backing, bonding system, overall thickness and edge treatment. Ask for the proposed build-up and any project-specified test documents. Do not compare quotations on face sheet appearance alone.
Agree how appearance will be approved
Use physical samples to establish texture and colour. Explain how adjoining panels are arranged and mark the grain direction. Keep the agreed reference and identify what will be reviewed at sample stage and before shipment.
Make quotation scope comparable
State whether supports, brackets, fixings, film, labelling and export packing are included. Break quantities down by drawing type or part number. Ask the supplier to identify exclusions and any assumptions before comparing prices.
