PVD Stainless Steel Sheets
Specify the colour and the surface underneath it. Hairline gold and mirror gold are different finishes, even when the colour name is the same.
What to put in the quotation request
| Colour | Reference sample, colour direction and appearance acceptance |
|---|---|
| Surface | Hairline, mirror or other requested base texture |
| Substrate | Required grade, thickness, sheet size and quantity |
| Processing | Cutting, forming, visible faces and protective film |
The photograph is an appearance reference. Confirm the substrate, coating process and sheet format with the quotation.
Coordinate the finish
with the fabrication.
PVD means physical vapour deposition. In a decorative stainless steel inquiry, the requested colour and the underlying surface finish are separate parts of the specification. A gold hairline surface and a gold mirror surface should not be treated as the same product. Include a sample reference rather than relying only on an on-screen colour.
For project quantities, define the visible face, panel layout and the sample approval process before order confirmation. Tell the supplier whether the material will be formed or fabricated after finishing. Confirm handling, surface protection and the proposed production sequence. A decorative coating is not evidence of a particular base grade or a promise of maintenance-free performance.
Does PVD identify the stainless steel grade?
No. State the substrate grade separately from the colour and finish.
Can screen colours be used as final approval?
They are useful for discussion. A physical sample provides a better agreed appearance reference.
Useful specification notes.

Include the material, finish, dimensions, quantities and destination.
